More on your views on the future of London's green spaces

Green and public spaces have emerged as a critical lifeline for cities and their residents. They have proven to be timeless risk-reducing infrastructure, essential urban services, critical prerequisites for mental and health and wellbeing, and infrastructure of opportunity especially in times of crisis.

Covid-19 has focused us again on the value of local communities and the role of the park in everyone’s life. Both have been transformed from 'nice-to-have' into critical resources. As part of the London Festival of Architecture programme, this project will reimagine the future of London's green spaces as places to exercise, socialise, relax and enjoy in safety.

The #ParkPower website has seen nearly 3,500 contributions and more than 8,000 visitors to date, and we aim to reach many more in the final weeks of the consultation. The added comments identify these aspects as the most important ones to be prioritised in the future of London's green spaces:

When we look at responses by age, we can see how the majority of people would prioritise nature and animals, quiet, good seating, safer night access, public toilets, smart bins, experimental growing and children's play in future green spaces:

Finally, the majority of respondents feel positive about green spaces in London confirming how important is to protect, maintain and improve the quality of the existing ones as well as create new local areas of green space to improve access for all communities.
