London's best parks for dog walking

A dog is more than just a pet: it’s a companion, a friend and a part of the family. Dog owners and their dog walkers have countless fantastic options in the capital, with roughly 47% of Greater London comprised of green space. We know that both on and off lead exercise are important for the health of your pup, and your comments show how much you enjoy spending time with your four-legged friend in your local green space. So we’ve put together a list of London parks that we think both you and your pet will love.

Top 10 Dog Parks in London

  • Greenwich Park
  • Hyde Park
  • Hackney Marshes
  • Primrose Hill
  • Battersea Park
  • Hampstead Heath
  • St James’s Park
  • Southwark Park
  • Richmond Park
  • Barnes Green
  • Dog-free and dogs-on-leads areas

Dogs are welcome in all the Royal Parks although there are some places where they are not allowed or should be kept on a lead. The following table gives details of the areas in each Royal Park where dogs are not allowed or need to be kept on leads.

    What's next?

As cities get reconfigured after the pandemic restrictions, it is now a good time to start working toward creating or improving and parks community facilities. Please keep sharing your thoughts on your local parks, and tell us what you would be excited to see in future green spaces.
